The day the world changed, something also changed inside us, we became more aware of our human vulnerability, beyond race, power and creed. Although physically isolated, we felt closer, more grateful and much more in need of others, of everyone! We learned once again that individual well-being is not possible without collective well-being.
In the midst of these reflections and continuing with the work of re-designing the curriculum of our educational institution, Colegio Campestre Americano CCA, we came to the point where we had to decide what our social work should be during the following school year. Our students had been working with the children and youth of the community of the rural village of El Sendero for several years. We had the satisfaction of these meetings in which the students shared readings, crafts and games; however, we were still not satisfied. We had in mind a project that had been already many years in the making and that would extend our educational benefits to communities at risk. We know that for the good of all, as individuals and as nations, we need to have a population with more equitable education, so that each person has a greater possibility to contribute to the development of the country and to their personal development.
We were preparing to donate some computers when the question arose: "And what if we take advantage of the computers, the internet and the space for...?" So many ideas started to emerge, new and very old. Eventually, Desenrédate Café was born. We invite you to be part of our team Desenrédate Café! We want to fight inequality and poverty through education. Come with us to start an educational cafe!
